1. Introduction

Seriesly Books LLC ("Seriesly," "we," "us," or "our") operates the Seriesly mobile application and the website located at serieslybooks.com (collectively, the "Service"), including our pre-launch waitlist. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, disclose, and protect information when you use the Service.

By using the Service, you agree to the collection and use of information in accordance with this Privacy Policy.

2. Information We Collect

2.1 Information You Provide

• Waitlist signups: name and/or email address when you join our reader or author waitlist.
• Account information (once the app launches): email address, username, password (encrypted), and any profile details you choose to add.
• Reading data: books you add to your library or TBR, reading status, ratings, reviews, formats (ebook, audiobook, physical), and reading history.
• Photos and images: photographs and screenshots you choose to submit — a bookshelf, a book cover, a barcode, a page number, or a screenshot of another reading app's library — which we process to extract book information. See Section 4 for how they are processed and Section 7 for how long they are kept.
• Social features (when available): friend connections, shared TBRs, messages or interactions with other users, and content you post such as reviews or shareable cards.
• Communications: messages you send us for support, feedback, or inquiries.

2.2 Information Collected Automatically

• Device information: device type, operating system, and unique device identifiers.
• Usage data: features accessed, time spent, and interactions with the app, website, and our emails.
• Cookies and similar technologies on our website, used for analytics and to support the waitlist form.

2.3 Information From Third Parties

• Book metadata providers (currently Open Library) used to populate book information.
• Amazon Associates and other affiliate partners, which may use their own cookies or tracking when you click affiliate links (see Section 5).
• Information contained in files you choose to import, such as a Goodreads CSV export.

3. How We Use Information

• Provide, operate, and maintain the Service.
• Manage the waitlist and notify you about launch and updates.
• Personalize your library, recommendations, and release calendar.
• Enable social features you choose to use, such as friends and TBR sharing.
• Process premium subscription purchases, when available.
• Send service-related communications and, with your consent, marketing communications.
• Monitor and analyze usage to maintain and improve the Service.
• Detect and prevent fraud or abuse, and enforce our Terms and Conditions.
• Comply with applicable legal obligations.

4. How We Share Information

We do not sell your personal information. We may share information with:

• Service providers who perform services on our behalf, such as Google Workspace and Google Sheets for waitlist management, email delivery providers, analytics providers, and cloud hosting.
• Text-extraction providers, which read the text contained in photographs and screenshots you submit. Images are transferred to Microsoft Azure AI Document Intelligence, acting on our instructions and solely for that purpose. Where a shelf photograph additionally requires the extracted lines of text to be grouped into individual books, those lines of text — never the image itself — may be sent to Anthropic for that purpose.
• Amazon Associates and other affiliate partners, only as necessary to process affiliate links and referrals.
• Other users, limited to information you choose to make visible through social features (e.g., shared TBRs or match scores), subject to your privacy settings.
• A successor entity in connection with a merger, acquisition, financing, or sale of assets.
• Government authorities or other parties when required by law, or to protect rights, property, or safety.

5. Affiliate Links & Amazon Associates Disclosure

Seriesly is a participant in the Amazon Services LLC Associates Program, an affiliate advertising program designed to provide a means for sites to earn advertising fees by linking to Amazon.com. As an Amazon Associate, we earn from qualifying purchases. When you click a “Buy” link or similar affiliate link within the Service, you may be directed to a third-party retailer's website, and that retailer may independently collect information about you and your purchase in accordance with its own privacy policy. We encourage you to review the privacy policies of any third-party site you visit.

6. Cookies & Tracking Technologies

Our website uses cookies and similar technologies to operate the waitlist form, remember your preferences, and analyze site traffic. You can control cookies through your browser settings; disabling cookies may affect site functionality.

7. Data Retention

We retain personal information for as long as necessary to provide the Service, comply with legal obligations, resolve disputes, and enforce our agreements. Waitlist information is retained until launch communications are complete or until you request deletion. Photographs and screenshots you submit for text extraction are deleted once extraction is confirmed; we keep the information extracted from them, not the image.

8. Your Privacy Rights

Depending on your location, you may have the right to:

• Access, correct, or delete your personal information.
• Opt out of marketing communications.
• Object to or restrict certain processing of your information.
• Request a copy of your data in a portable format.

California residents: You may have additional rights under the California Consumer Privacy Act (CCPA), including the right to know what personal information we collect and the right to request deletion. We do not sell personal information.

European/UK users: If you are located in the EEA, UK, or Switzerland, you may have rights under the GDPR or UK GDPR, including the right to access, rectify, erase, and port your data, and to lodge a complaint with a supervisory authority.

Deleting your account: you can request deletion from within the app, at Profile and then Delete my account, or by contacting us. Deletion is not immediate. Your account is scheduled for deletion seven days later, the app shows you the date, and you can cancel at any time during that period. Once it completes we erase your library, ratings, notes, reading sessions, usage records, and any images still held. Catalogue records such as books, series, and publication dates are not personal information and are not deleted.

9. Children's Privacy

The Service is intended for users age 13 and older. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If we learn that we have collected personal information from a child under 13, we will delete it promptly. A parent or guardian who believes we may have collected information from a child under 13 should contact us at help@serieslybooks.com.

10. Data Security

We use reasonable administrative, technical, and physical safeguards designed to protect your information. However, no method of transmission or storage is completely secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.

11. International Data Transfers

Your information may be transferred to and processed in the United States or other countries where our service providers operate, which may have data protection laws that differ from those in your jurisdiction.

12. Third-Party Links

The Service may contain links to third-party websites, including retailers and social platforms. We are not responsible for the privacy practices of those third parties.

13. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will post the updated policy with a revised "Last Updated" date and, for material changes, provide additional notice, such as by email or in-app notification.
